Take That: Band has put a smile back on Robbie Williams’ face, says his dad

Take That (pic: PA)

Robbie Williams’ father says Take That have put a smile back on his son’s face – and also made him a better singer.

The band smashed the record for the fastest-selling album this century, and Robbie’s dad Pete Conway believes his son is FINALLY happy.

Last night Gary Barlow, 39, Howard Donald, 42, and Jason Orange, 40, celebrated with a glass of bubbly as their album Progress topped the charts with a staggering 500,000 sales in just one week.

Meanwhile teetotal Mark Owen, 38, and Robster, 36, clinked together glasses of sparkling water.

Pete toasted his son’s transformation too.

He said: “I’ve been with them together recently and it was such a pleasure to watch them all perform again. They are like a band of brothers.

“Rob’s voice has become very strong. A lot stronger. I noticed that. I don’t know if its because he is now very fit and very happy but he’s singing really well. His voice has changed as he got older and I get a lot of pleasure from it. It’s good he talks about depression as well. I know he said there was depression in the family but it isn’t me. I’m not depressed, I just get up and smile.”

Robbie Williams Claims He’ll Get Naked To Defeat JLS

Robbie Williams has claimed that he and his Take That pals have a secret weapon to beat JLS in the album chart battle, and that’s nudity!

The bands will both release their new albums on the same day in November and are set to fight a close battle to see who gets to the top spot.

JLS have already said they don’t think they’ll win but Robbie isn’t so sure and is willing to get his top off to make sure it happens.

When asked what he would be willing to do in order to beat JLS, Robbie told the Daily Star, “If all else fails, nakedness in Trafalgar Square. We might have to get our arses out again. It’s going to be an interesting week.”

Robbie admitted that he is a fan of the X Factor boyband though and has spoken to them following another recent chart battle.

“JLS are great.” he said. “When my last album came out and I was No 2 and they were No 1, I gave them a bell and congratulated them. So if the reverse  happens, they have my number now…”

ROBBIE WILLIAMS ON RUINING HIS CHANCES WITH KYLIE

Robbie Williams has admitted he had a crush on Kylie Minogue when they recorded Kids in 2000, but ruined it by breaking into fits of giggles when she stripped for the video.

The singer, who recently reunited with Take That, says he wants to apologise to Kylie by telling all in his new book, according the Metro.

The Aussie star stripped down to a G-string for the shoot, but Robbie drunkenly laughed at her, after his plan to down Drambuie to settle his nerves ‘backfired’.

Rob claims he wasn’t told that Kylie would strip in the scene and the shock was enough to make him act like a ‘bit of a teenage boy’.

In biography You Know Me, the Angels singer reveals: ‘I think that any chance of anything disappeared when I laughed at her. Perhaps she likes being naked, but she probably doesn’t enjoy being laughed at by some Stokie idiot.

‘I couldn’t figure out why my banter wouldn’t work, why my natural ability to just be myself went awry.’

Robbie Williams Gives Olly Murs Career Advice

Robbie Williams is reportedly giving Olly Murs career advice.

The Take That singer is said to be helping Murs with his singing, after striking up a friendship with the 26-year old when he sang with the Essex boy in last year’s X Factor finale.

Murs claims that Robbie helped him to negotiate a deal with his record label that would ‘not leave him with no money’ like some of Simon Cowell‘s previous signings.

The Please Don’t Let Me Go singer told the News of the World: “Robbie really pushed songwriting on to me. When you get signed, make sure you write and make sure you get involved with it.”

He added: “So I wrote the whole album and the first single – that is where the money is for artists.”

Olly, who is on course to score his first number 1 single with his debut has also revealed that he is ‘single and lonely’ but has his eye on a certain Girls Aloud star.

Murs told OK! magazine: “I’m in a queue of millions of men across the country who fancy Cheryl Cole. I keep asking Joe McElderry if I can have her number but he’s always like: No!”

The singer has since joked to The Metro that Cheryl’s boyfriend, Derek Hough is ‘jumping on his patch’ when it comes to Chezza.

About Robbie Williams

Out of all the members of Take That, Robbie Williams never really seemed to fit in. Roguishly handsome where his bandmates were merely cute, Williams was tougher and sexier than the rest, which made him more distinctive.Williams finally released his first solo album, Life Thru a Lens, in 1997. The album became a big hit in Britain, prompting his second, I've Been Expecting You, in 1998.
